Salt Springs in the Ocala National Forest

For the last 2 years we have spent our vacation in this condo at Salt Springs in The Ocala National Forest, Florida. The Ocala forest is thankfully overlooked by many people getting winter sunshine in Florida. It's really convenient only a few hours from Disney, so we spend the first 3 or 4 days there for the kids sake and then go up to Salt Springs and enjoy the calm and recreational facilities. There are numerous springs in the Ocala forest all pumping out millions of gallons a water a day and all at 70 deg plus, ideal for swimming, snorkelling and even diving if your experienced enough. We found this condo on http://members.westnet.com.au/dezrush/index.html and have been really impressed, its fairly new and sleeps 6 for just $450 a week.
We have canoed down some of the river runs, walked parts of the Florida Trail but our real favourite it to take a boat trip down the Silver Springs river which is a state park and fed by one of those springs. Here you can observe masses of wildlife, otters, alligators, turtles, all types of birds and even a troop of wild monkeys who escaped years ago after a tarzan film was made here. It's really worth a visit!
